Ian McClure (24) is the director and producer for Hiking The Tide. Ian is an editor by trade and an active musician. He began his career on YouTube with niche videos that amassed an international fanbase, transitioning into the film industry at an early age. Short films and documentaries he’s shot and edited have been screened at several film festivals, and have won or placed well. Ian graduated from Emerson College in 2023 with a BA concentrated in directing and producing, He was primarily involved with the college’s Emerson Channel. Ian recently edited LOVE ALL and Knock Knock; both shorts are currently competing in prestigious festivals such as the Pasadena International Film Festival and the Monthly World Cannes Film Festival. He’s also collaborated with Film.io in curating and editing over 30 interviews with some of SXSW’s best indie directors. Making his directorial debut with Hiking The Tide, Ian is taking on his most ambitious project yet. His film is the product of a series of grieving experiences as seen through the lens of a neurodivergent person, employing 16mm film, Californian landscapes and poetry. Ian is excited to showcase stories of neurodiversity to bring awareness to mental health issues and to provide a voice for neurodivergent people.
