Simran Shah (22) is a composer for Hiking The Tide. Having just graduated with her BA in music at Haverford College, she moved to LA to pursue film scoring. Feeling mesmerized by music’s transformative nature from an early age, she turned to piano, saxophone, and more recently tabla, to explore her passion. This led her to a wide range of experiences, from performing at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, to interning on the Broadway musical Water For Elephants, and most recently completing her song cycle - Roses for the Hidden One - for soprano voice and piano. She has composed music for dancers, as well as theater and film directors, drawing from her Western Classical training and love for jazz, South Asian traditions, and popular music. At the heart of Simran’s musical interests lies a deep passion for collaborating with and learning from all types of artists. She looks forward to helping bring Hiking The Tide to life by giving it its own musical story.
